From the consumer to the producer

There is a considerable amount of information to digest in this area. The field of ethics when it comes to the internet alone can be rather intense. I find this comes from the idea that the general concept of manners, privacy, rights and many other topics may be applied in a very flexible way and point of view in the realm of ethernet. This all does have a big impact on us today as we are all, well in my household, high end users of the computers on the internet.

Alternative software

This was an interesting experience. The use of free software programs as word processors, spreadsheet and chart developers. From what I remember correctly from our assignment 2 presentations most of us used googledocs to be able to communicate and get the assignment developed and delivered. This is the google documents site that was used by our group for assignment 2 http://docs.google.com/ .

I found that the freeware was a little confusing at times to use, but if you did require a word processor or a way of making a document without the access to a Microsoft Office Word or similarly familiar programme, they make a good alternative.

http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~comp1900/Lectures/comp1900_wk_4_word_processing_Lec.pdf , in these lecture notes, we were doing word processing, which of course meant having a look at the freeware versions also available.

The power of the computer

The computer is very powerful tool to use. Understanding and knowing how to use the software applications that are available on your particular machine can take some muddling through or as I found useful, attending a class on how to use specific applications more fully. Computers have come a long way from just being able to'crunch'data and transfer data. They do still get used for these abilities and many, many more things.
This occupied many weeks of lecture time if one was to think of all the applications to be used and learnt about eg. http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~comp1900/Lectures/comp1900_wk_4_word_processing_Lec.pdf ,

http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~comp1900/Lectures/comp1900_Wk7_spreadsheets_notes.pdf ,

I think our lectures involving data and metadata would be linked here and into the consumer to producer section as well. This is due to the application of data in the area of tagging.

Interface as a mediator

Interface can be described as the mediator, in this particular point of reference, for the use of computers. This website has a good basic description of an interface within a computer reference. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/I/interface.html . Any interface to be used can be a little inhibiting if there is too much information demanding your attention.

How most of us mediate the use of a computer is through a Graphical User Interface (GUI - goo ee). This is the very first screen seen by the user once the computer has booted up and the operating system (OS) is active. We are most familiar with Microsoft and Apple software as the OS available.

http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~comp1900/Lectures/comp1900_wk_2_technology_Lec.pdf is a link to the lecture notes used when we were discussing the different forms of interfaces including GUI.

I also found, when I had done a basic google search, that there was sites available from Java, Python and other types of information of programming language companies.

Study hours

yet again, the effectiveness of my study is that i would like to have more time to spend on studying. This would be for my own personal satisfaction and to the satisfaction of lecturers as well.

My study is limited.

I find it unsatisfactory for my own wants.

next on the agenda

updated reflection of week 2-
Well this particular week of time, was taken up through the mid semester break from university.
I had visitors in my household at the time. They, at different times, are not locals to the Brisbane area. Since I am originally from North Queensland, that is where these visitors come from, therefore I was involved in showing them some of the sights in Brisbane, while still doing some study (usually assignment work)and transporting of children to their own associated activities.

Overall week 2 shows more leisure time, but also, naturally, no class time.
